About the Speaker: Crystal Williams joined Boston University in 2017, as Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. In 2020 she became Vice President and Associate Provost for Community & Inclusion, with an expanded portfolio that includes Boston University's Arts Initiative, Organizational Development and Learning function, Living and Learning Centers, in addition to BU Diversity & Inclusion. At Boston University, Williams developed the institution's inaugural senior diversity officer role (Associate Provost for Diversity & Inclusion) and office, reporting to the University Provost. Her work at Boston University has focused on laying a strategic foundation upon which additional transformative diversity, equity, and inclusion work can rest.

Keynote Speaker: Monnica T. Williams
About Speaker: Monnica T. Williams is a board-certified licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut in the Departments of Psychological Sciences and Psychiatry. She is also Clinical Director of the Behavioral Wellness Clinic, and has served as the Director of the Center for Mental Health Disparities at the University of Louisville in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Dr. Williams’ research focuses on African American mental health, culture, and psychopathology, and she has published over 100 scientific articles on these topics. Current projects include the assessment of race-based trauma, unacceptable thoughts in OCD, improving cultural competence in the delivery of mental health care services, and interventions to reduce racism. Her work has been featured in several major media outlets, including NPR, Huffington Post, and the New York Times

About Speaker: Dr. Natalie Cort is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Department and Core Faculty in the Concentration on Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience, and Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health (CMGMH) at William James College (WJC). Dr. Cort is also the Director of WJC’s Black Mental Health Graduate Academy. Her NIMH funded research fellowships have focused on examining racial/ethnic disparities in the mental health field.

About Speaker: The speakers are a panel representation of past and present years of The Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology.  Dr. Seymour was the first Director of CMTP. Dr. Dudley Grant and Dr. Garrido-Castillo were former primary supervisors for the CMTP interns.  Dr. Crawford is presently the Director of the program.

Keynote Speaker: David C. Henderson, M.D.
About Speaker: Dr. Henderson is Chairman of Department of Psychiatry, Professor of Psychiatry Boston University School of Medicine, Chief of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center. He has worked internationally for the past 21 years in resource-limited settings, and areas impacted by mass violence, disasters and complex emergencies. Dr. Henderson has conducted research and training programs in Bosnia, Cambodia, East Timor, Ethiopia, Haiti, Liberia, New Orleans, New York City, Rwanda and Peru, South Africa, and Somaliland among other places. His work has consisted of field studies, needs assessments, mental health policy development and strategic planning, quantitative and qualitative surveys, mental health capacity building programs for specialized and primary health professionals, and skill-transfer program evaluation. In the United States, he has conducted more than 30 randomized clinical trials in severely mentally ill populations. Dr. Henderson has also directed a schizophrenia research training fellowship, and mentored trainees and junior faculty who have progressed to K awards and secured other independent funding.

Keynote Speaker: Debra A. Pinals, M.D..
About Speaker: Assistant Commissioner of Forensic Mental Health Services, Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. Formerly the Interim Deputy Commissioner of Clinical and Professional Services. She is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Forensic Education at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). Over the past 18 years, Dr. Pinals has worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities, court clinic, outpatient, and emergency mental health settings as an attending psychiatrist and as a forensic psychiatrist conducting forensic assessments and as a forensic mental health administrator to public sector mental health systems in Ohio and Massachusetts. She has been the PI on several federal grants related to jail diversion and prison re-entry. She was the Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program at the UMMS Department of Psychiatry from 1998 to 2008.

Keynote Speaker: Rocky Robbins, Ph.D.
About Speaker: Rocky Robbins, Ph.D. (Cherokee/Choctaw) is an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma, where he teaches Multi-cultural counseling, Behavior disorders and Personality Assessment. He has published over 40 articles in Psychology and Education journals during his twelve year experience as a professor. His research areas include: re-norming psychological instruments for use with American Indians, means of coping for Indian students in boarding schools, needs of therapists who work with Indian clients and studies that focus on American Indian family resiliency. The area in which he is currently doing most of his research is in American Indian spirituality. He is currently working on articles related to traditional American Indian spirituality as it is related to psychological health, an American Indian spirituality development model and on Christian colonialization. He has also published five programs: Through the Diamond Threshold, Leadership Skills Building with Indian adolescents, an Indian Women’s Identity group, Family Therapy with American Indians, and a Prevention Program for Cherokees. He has conducted hundreds of workshops and speaking engagements across the United States and Europe related to American Indian topics.
